Address: 1 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M5G 2L5, Canada

In the heart of Downtown next to CF Toronto Eaton Centre, JOEY Eaton Centre turns a shopping break or a pre-theatre dinner into a full night out — a polished, globe-spanning menu served with real energy.

The story

JOEY is a family-owned Canadian group that began in 1992 as a Calgary pasta house called Joey Tomato’s and grew into one of North America’s best-known premium-casual brands, with more than 30 restaurants across Canada and the U.S. The Eaton Centre room was Toronto’s second JOEY and is still one of the city’s busiest downtown tables. The concept has never changed much: globally inspired, chef-driven cooking — a little Asian, a little American, a little Mediterranean — plated for sharing.

What to order

The JOEY Classic Steak with frites and the rich Lobster Spaghetti are the signatures people come back for. From the sushi side, the Seared Salmon Sushi and a crunchy tuna-and-avocado roll are reliably good, while the Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Truffle Parmesan Fries are the shares that hit the table first. Save room for the Molten Chocolate Cake.

The Space

A big, warm, high-energy dining room with a long central bar, soft lighting and deep banquettes, just steps from the mall’s north end. It feels upscale without being stiff — loud enough for a celebration, comfortable enough for a long dinner.

Who it’s for

A dependable social hub Downtown: after-shopping lunches with friends, date nights, birthdays and larger group get-togethers where nobody wants to debate the cuisine — the menu covers everyone.

Questions and answers

Do I need a reservation? Booking is strongly recommended, especially on weekends and around events at nearby venues; walk-ins can wait at the bar.

Are there vegetarian and lighter options? Yes — poke and Mediterranean bowls, salads and several plant-forward plates sit alongside the steaks and sushi, with gluten-wise choices marked.

What should I try on a first visit? Start with the lettuce wraps and truffle fries, then the Classic Steak or Lobster Spaghetti — that trio is the house at its best.

Is it good for groups and families? Very — the shareable format, wide menu and a kids’ selection make it easy for mixed tables and family dinners.

When is the best time to go? Midweek evenings and late lunches are the calmest; Friday and Saturday nights are lively and busy, so book ahead.
