An elegant waterfront Japanese room where Aburi craft — sushi finished over charcoal flame — meets seasonal, multi-course dining by the harbour.
The story
Miku carried Aburi cuisine east from Vancouver, where ABURI Restaurants first brought the flame-searing technique to North America. Opened in 2015, it became Toronto’s first and finest Aburi house, guided by the group’s Ningenmi philosophy — finding joy by bringing joy to others — that shapes its service.
What to order
The signature is the Aburi Salmon Oshi, pressed sockeye seared to order with jalapeño and Miku sauce. Explore further with Aburi Ebi Oshi, the Miku Roll and pristine sashimi, or commit to the seasonal tasting menu or a full Kaiseki — traditional multi-course Japanese dining reworked with modern West Coast technique.
The Space
Spanning more than 7,000 square feet on the harbourfront, Miku pairs a raw bar and sushi bar with a generous patio over the water. The mood is contemporary and refined, with harbour light and careful plating turning dinner into an occasion.
Who it’s for
For celebrations, considered dinners and anyone who wants Japanese dining with genuine craft and a waterside setting.
Questions and answers
Should I book in advance? Yes — as a destination waterfront room it’s busiest in the evenings and through summer; reserve early, especially if you want the patio or a tasting-menu seating.
Can vegetarians eat well here? Yes — vegetable rolls, salads and cooked plant-based dishes complement the sushi, so a meat- and fish-free table is comfortable.
What’s the must-order? Start with the Aburi Salmon Oshi, then branch into other oshi and sashimi, or let the seasonal tasting menu or Kaiseki lead the meal.
Is it suited to celebrations and groups? Very — the spacious room, tasting formats and refined setting make it a natural for special occasions and group dinners.
Is there a patio by the water? Yes — the large harbourfront patio is one of the room’s highlights in the warmer months.
