Address: 20 King St W, Toronto, ON M5H 1C4, Canada
JOEY’s North American flagship, this two-storey showpiece fills a heritage bank building in the heart of King West — the group’s biggest, most ambitious room and a genuine downtown destination.
The story
Opened in late 2024, JOEY King Street is the largest JOEY on the continent at roughly 19,000 square feet, built inside the historic Royal Bank building in King West. It’s the flagship of a family-owned Canadian group that began as a Calgary pasta house in 1992 and now spans more than 30 restaurants — and this location is where the brand shows off, from the grand two-level design to the marquee patio.
What to order
The kitchen runs JOEY’s globally inspired greatest hits: the Classic Steak with frites, the signature Lobster Spaghetti, sushi and crunchy tuna rolls, pan-seared gyoza and Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps to share, all backed by a deep cocktail list. It’s steak-to-sushi range done at flagship scale.
The Space
Two soaring levels inside a restored bank hall, topped by a 100-seat rooftop-style patio with an operable roof and lush landscaping that looks out over King West. Grand but lively — heritage bones, modern polish and one of the best big-night rooms Downtown.
Who it’s for
Special occasions and see-and-be-seen dinners: anniversaries, celebrations, impressing out-of-town guests, or a long weekend lunch on the patio when the roof is open.
Questions and answers
Do I need a reservation? Yes — as the flagship it books up quickly, so reserve ahead, particularly for the patio and weekend evenings.
Are there vegetarian and gluten-wise dishes? Yes, the menu carries bowls, salads and plant-forward plates plus clearly marked gluten-wise options.
What should a first-timer order? The Classic Steak and Lobster Spaghetti are the signatures; add the lettuce wraps and some sushi to share.
Can it handle a large group or private event? Absolutely — the scale of the room makes it one of the easier downtown spots for big tables and celebrations.
Is the patio worth it? Very — the 100-seat terrace has an operable roof over the street below, so it works in sun or light rain and is the seat to request in warm months.
