Anastasia Lin, the Canadian Miss World who is banned from entering the Motherland

As torontonka notes, Anastasia Lin is a well-known Chinese-Canadian actress, model and holder of the Miss World title.

Anastasia attempted to gain that title several times and stubbornly went to her goal. As a result, she reached it. Unfortunately, the girl couldn’t continue her fight for the highest title of beauty because of the reasons that didn’t depend on her.

Few people know that in addition to her creative activities, Lin is actively involved in the protection of human rights, which was motivated by her personal story.

However, such activity of Anastasia was taken, to say the least, not favourably in her Motherland. That prevented her from taking part in the fight for a new title. We will return to that later.

So, in our article, we will tell you in more detail about the glamorous and human rights defender paths of the Canadian Miss World, referring to anastasialin.com.

Her early years

Anastasia’s father heads a large company that supplies medical equipment, mobile phones and other goods to China.

Her mother was a teacher of Western economics and international finance. She and her young daughter had to leave the country because of her views and activities.

From an early age, the mother forced Anastasia to learn the piano and study hard at school.

Anastasia finished middle school in Vancouver, and after that, she moved to Toronto.

Active acting

Anastasia Lin first appeared on the TV screen at the age of seven. Throughout her acting career, she starred in twenty films. Movies that were dedicated to the protection of human rights in China brought her the greatest popularity.

Lin was repeatedly awarded important film awards and prizes for her roles.

A titleholder

Anastasia was invited to participate in various beauty contests for several years. In 2013, she became a runner-up at the Canadian Miss World, but in 2015, she finally won the title.

A scandal

In November 2015, the Chinese government didn’t respond to her visa request for participation in the Miss World contest. Anastasia thought that the country expressed its refusal to accept her candidacy in such a way.

In Anastasia’s opinion, it was caused by her frank statements about human rights violations on the territory of China.

As a result, Anastasia’s suspicions were confirmed when she was classified as persona non-grata at the Chinese embassy.

A human rights defender

Anastasia’s position regarding the protection of human rights was based on the fact that, according to her, the Chinese political authorities are conducting active ideological processing.

Thus, Lin remembers that she was forced to sing songs glorifying the Communist Party throughout her childhood.

Thanks to her mother’s Western views, Anastasia knew many things that were concealed from the ordinary Chinese, such as the Tibet issue. Thus, having moved to Canada, Lin actively called to reveal the truth to the Chinese population.

Chinese state security agents visited her father, who stayed in China, because of his daughter’s activities. They forced him to give up his daughter.

However, it didn’t stop Anastasia. In 2016, she participated in the Geneva Summit for Human Rights, during which she highlighted the problem of mass violations in China.
